要約(日本語): The incidence of lightning strokes on transmission lines is very common. Although transmission systems are nor-mally shielded by ground wires, there is a probability of power supply interruptions because of back flashover and shielding failure. The application of line arresters has increased because it is evaluated as an effective counter-measure against lightning-initiated faults. The installation of lightning arresters on all the phases of each tower can eliminate almost entirely faults caused by lightning but is a very expensive solution. A selective installation of ar-resters should be considered instead. The authors tried calculation by using ATP to find out the lightning outage rate and the best optimum installations of gapped type arrester.
