要約(日本語): FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) devices have been designed to remove some constraints, for instance, overload problem in a power system. Although FACTS device covers several power electronics based apparatus used for AC power transmission system, in this paper the minimum required capacities of UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller) and IPFC (Interline Power Flow Controller) both of which employs self-commutated, voltage-sourced switching converters are determined by OPF method for providing particularly a satisfied solution of overload when a transmission system violates its thermal loading limits. In this way, we discuss comparison between the capacities of both devices in a test system model, 6-machine 22-bus system where an overloaded line occurs.
