要約(日本語): Japanese government instructed national universities to reduce the total electricity usage by 1 % or more. We conjectured that we can meet the government target at least for the first year by replacing the older half of all the air-conditioners with new, more efficient models. We studied the hourly temperature data and the monthly electricity consumption data at the Oh-Okayama campus of the Tokyo Institute of Technology for the past 15 year period. We found that the monthly cooling load correlates well with the monthly degree-day data calculated from the hourly temperature data. We also found that our conjecture is invalid and that the electricity usage would increase even if we improve the efficiency of the air-conditioners. The paper presents the statistical analysis of electricity usage data and temperature data.
