要約(日本語): In this study, we developed an odor sensor based on inverse opal photonic crystal array. Inverse opal photonic crystal has a nanoporous solid structure and the changeable structural color which depends on its refractive index and lattice constant. We tried to identify three odorous substances using the inverse opal photonic crystal array. Firstly, six inverse opal photonic crystals are fabricated and individually functionalized with different six alkoxysilanes to acquire different surface adsorption properties for vapor species. Secondly, after one saturated odorous substance vapor exposure, reflection spectrums of six inverse opal photonic crystals are individually obtained. Six kinds of shift ratios are calculated using the reflection spectrum peak of before and after exposure to the odorous substance. The six shift ratios are represented as a radar chart which is called the “fingerprint” of the odorous substance. As a result, obtained three radar charts were significantly different, demonstrating that three odorous substances can be identified using the individually surface-functionalized inverse opal photonic crystal array.
