要約(日本語): This paper proposes a swirling actuator that utilizes the electromagnetic radial force to generate rotational torque. This actuator integrates a mechanical speed reducer to convert the swirling motion to the rotation and is thus suitable for low-speed high-torque applications. The principles of actuator operation and radial force generation are introduced. 3D FEA results of the SPM-structure electromagnetic part are presented to evaluate the radial force generation. It is shown that the proposed actuator can realize a maximum torque density of 71 Nm/L.
