要約(日本語): The percentage differential relay with harmonic restraint has been used to detect the internal faults in the transformer. However, certain mal-functioning of differential relay has been reported which leads for unnecessary tripping of differential relay. This unnecessary tripping can lead to a power blackout and deterioration of the services provided by the Utility. So, there is a need for the development of improved classifier technique. This paper aims to present a methodology for identification of faults in power transformers, by distinguishing internal faults from other conditions, as energization of the transformer, external faults and saturation of the current transformer. The methodology is based on Discrete Wavelet Transform, since this gives good information about frequency and time domain simultaneously.
