要約(英語): It will soon be 100 years since the first radio broadcast started in Japan. Meanwhile, broadcasting technology has continued to evolve. NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL), established in 1930, has led the research and development of broadcasting media for more than 90 years. This paper reviews the history of broadcasting technology in Japan and introduces the role played by STRL. It also describes a vision of media that looks ahead 10 to 20 years and research efforts to achieve it.
