要約(日本語): 本書は，IoT（Internet of Things）時代における制御技術サプライヤの現状と展望を示すものである。本書では，特にファクトリーオートメーション領域における産業用制御技術やIoT技術の最新動向について紹介する。例えば，近年のIoTの拡大に伴い，データ駆動型のFD/FP（Fault Detection / Fault Prediction）が発展してきた。IoTはいわゆるビッグデータを作り出すが，それらがクラウドコンピューティングシステムに直接的に保存される場合，コミュニケーションやデータ分析における重荷になってしまうという傾向がある。したがって，エッジコンピューティングが，IoTサイクル（接続，蓄積，可視化，分析，制御）にとって重要かつ効果的になっている。一方，ビジネス的な視点からは，様々な課題が発生する。製造装置で広く使われる市販の産業用コントローラは，IoTプラットフォームとしての重要な役割を果たすことができるのであるが，クラウドコンピュータサプライヤ，製造装置サプライヤ，コントローラサプライヤ，工場オーナなどは各々異なる企業であるため，十分な連携ができるとは限らない。本書の筆者らは，コントローラサプライヤのエンジニアと大学の制御技術研究者であり，本書において技術戦略についても提案する。

要約(英語): This book presents the current state and the future perspective of control technology suppliers in the IoT (Internet of things) era. The book aims to introduce the latest trend of industrial control technology and IoT technology especially in the field of the factory automation. For example, data driven FD/FP (Fault Detection and Fault Prediction) system has been developed as IoT expands in recent years. IoT creates so-called Big Data and tends to create heavy load in communication and in data analysis when stored directly to the cloud computing system. Therefore the edge computing becomes important and effective for the IoT cycle (Connect, Storage, Monitor, Analyze and Control). On the other hand, various issues occur from the viewpoint of business. Commercialized industrial controllers widely used in manufacturing equipment can play the important role as the IoT platform. However the cloud computer supplier, the manufacturing equipment supplier, the controller supplier and the factory owner may not cooperate enough because they are different companies each. Authors are engineers of controller supplier and control technology researchers of the university. They also suggest the technical strategy in this book.
