要約(英語)：Linear motors allow direct linear motion without any rotary-to-linear conversion mechanism, and thus have been widely applied in manufacturing and material-handling equipment. In recent years, they have attracted attention for applications that improve quality of life (QOL), healthcare and welfare, and in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A specialized investigation committee has surveyed recent case examples in these fields. In this technical report, these results are organized into four categories: “Enriching Daily Life,” “Health,” “Manufacturing,” and “Efficient Use of Energy.” Additionally, development examples of component technologies—such as materials and control devices—are presented with an emphasis on sustainability. An appendix provides explanations of the various types and characteristics of linear motors. The scope of this report covers a wide range of applications, from smartphones and toys to magnetic levitation (maglev) systems, smart factories, and artificial intelligence (AI). Accordingly, it provides a broad overview of the latest trends in linear drive technologies that contribute to the realization of a sustainable and prosperous society. This report aims to provide insights for R&D efforts in which sustainability has been increasingly required in recent years, and it is also considered a useful introductory resource for engineers who are not familiar with linear motors.
