要約(英語): In order to distinguish the point where an optical fiber cable is deteriorated, estimation technique focused on the difference of daily change of optical loss is proposed. At degraded section of a cable, included optical fiber is bent by the neighboring parts and optical loss at the portion is changed daily by shrinkage and expansion of them. Therefore deteriorated part is able to be detected by comparing the extent of the alteration of optical loss of each section from OTDR measurements. Effectiveness of the scheme is evaluated by experiments using aged OPGW's installed in the field.
